Project Summary

The nursery’s deceptively simple exterior belies the technical complexity of maximising space and creating level access within a former art gallery. A timber-clad roof extension, painted a muted blue to reference the shop-fronts of the high-street, screens a play terrace as well as an additional classroom storey. Inside the playroom, a round window looks out on a mature tree, giving the children front-row window seats to the changing seasons. This consideration of user-experience and interaction alongside playful formal expression is a consistent feature of Kennedy Woods’ design approach.
