This retrofit nursery project involved the sensitive conversion of a Grade II Listed Bank on the Berkhamsted High Street. We reconfigured internal layouts in order to optimise room sizes for different age group area requirements and teaching ratios, and added new direct access child-WCs, kitchenettes and water points throughout.

Each playroom has a colourful 'shopfront', a glazed window bench, with shelving to display children's work and provide glimpses from circulation spaces into the rooms. Each room is colour coded and defined by an animal 'mascot', which relates to interior signage, as part of a child-centric wayfinding strategy we developed for the brand.
